Our fridge/freezer is slying a slow horrible death and we have lost most of the food. SO. We are looking for a new one. I want a top fridge with the pull out bottom freezer, with ice maker and water dispinser. YES I KNOW I WHAT YOU ARE THINKING. But why buy something I dont like when I know what I want and must have it. :o) :af:
Any adcive on brands, places to purchease, etc etc. I think we might have to deal with Sears but if not then I would like to go elsewhere.
TIA!
Laura

My IL's have had one like this by LG for a few months now and they hate it.:af: They don't have as much room as their old side by side. Espeicially for tall things like bottles of water or the ketchup. So they have to be laid down on the shelves. The layout of it is just kind of wierd. Then the freezer section is a major PITA! This was their main selling point of the unit. Storing things is a pain, you have to take lots of stuff out to get to things on the bottom. Then it has a little shelf on the top that is supposed to pull out half way when you pull the freezer drawer out, half the time it sticks and doesn't pull out at all. And after less than 3 months use it's got a lot of frost building up on the items on the top shelf. Which is part of the reason it sticks.

After all the problems they've had with theirs, I'm very glad that we decided against one when we replaced our fridge a couple of years ago.

Sears scratch and dent store. We saved about $800 on our fridge. It had sharpie marker all over the front, which came off with some rubbing alcohol. I has a big gash on the side, but that is hidden.

I second what Hayes said. We bought our washer thru Sears outlet via ebay auction (sold directly from sears though) and we saved about $800.

We got ours from Best Buy. It is a stainless steel Samsung, front is SS, and sides are black. It has the top fridge, bottom freezer. Ice maker is in the freezer, not the door, so you reach in and get your ice. No water dispenser, but with 3 little kids who made an absolute mess of the water dispenser in our old fridge, we didn't want the water. The freezer is a door, not drawer and it has been convenient enough for me. When you open the door you can then pull out the drawer of the freezer. The doors are adjsutable so you can hinge them to open on either side depending on where it is placed. It has adjustable temp controls on the door, and you can lock those buttons so the kids can't change your setting. It has a speed cool setting as well and if a door is left open for longer than 4 minutes it beeps. That has saved us several times because my kids are not great about shutting the doors of the fridge or freezer. We got it at Best Buy for $999, and we had free delivery on it as well. I have no complaints about it.

I was just coming in here to post what Hayes posted. I was there a week ago ordering a part for my vaccum cleaner and was thrilled to see all the discount appliances (I am a bargain geek). They are off Oxmoor Road, let me see if I can find the number.

I was just going to mention avoid Kenmore. Apparently Sears is having issues lately with quality and service. But, for $800 savings, it might be worth it.

Oh wow! Everybody's picky about how their refrigerator is configured. I have the freezer on bottom and I like it just fine ... but then again, I have three refrigerator/freezers in my house plus a little chest freezer, so freezer space ain't so much of an issue for me ... I just love not having to bend down to get what's in the refrigerator. I've got the shelves and drawers configured to work with what I usually have in the fridge ... adjustable shelves are standard on everything, aren't they? Anyway, we got ours at Sears 6 years ago and it's still doing fine, but I did NOT know about the scratch and dent store! Dang!

I had heard that stainless steel was a bummer because magnets don't stick to it (which is just weird to me ... what's that all about), but I hadn't thought about the fingerprint issue ... that would drive me nuts. I tend to stick to basics in appliances ... a fridge is a big insulated box containing cold air; I don't need it to be internet-ready. I've been disappointed by appliance upgrades. I had to get a new oven and got a bigger one, and boy I hate it! In my kitchen re-do, I want to have two small ovens and one of those things that cooks with light.

Um, I haven't been much help!

Black is for me. and we too have two other freezers so we dont need a lot of freezer space in the one in kitchen.

I agree about fingerprint city, plus all of you there have been here know my fridge is a collage of pics over 50 pics in frames....
Since we are trying to get all the appliances to match the the DW is the newest we are going with black. I definitely want a door dispenser cause I hate hands in my ice. GOt that from my grandma (right S!)
But you are saying that the fridge has less room than a side by side. That is something to think about cause we need lots of fridge room!!! One thing about not eating perservatives is that the stuff has to be cold and it doesnt last too long so if it gets lost behing the mayo, mustard, katchup and other sauces...... It might as well be gone.
