I LOVE Flylady!:happydance: She is just wonderful. I have been following her guidelines somewhat for 2 months and for the first time in my life I am not nervous about people dropping by. I am not ashamed of my house anymore. My sink is shiny and I am dressed everyday and I am eating my food and drinking my water. I even read her book Body Clutter and although I am not overweight this book can help anyone who wants to be healthier. I am finally loving myself. Check her out if you don't know about her.

Me!! :hatjump: I'm a flybaby!:innocent: My favorite concept of hers is that housework done poorly still blesses your family! :wash:

You can purchase at amazon.com for like $8 something. I bought 3 copies and gave them to my friends. I will probably donate my copy to my church's library when I am done with it.

I LOVE Flylady! I just need to get motivated again, I haven't been flying much lately. Anyone want to start a mini fly list here?

:agreed: I think the mini list is a great idea, actually that is what I thought of when I saw Hayes' mission earlier (I went to check if it was the same as Kelly's!) I would love to have some support. As good as I do with parts of my routine, others sometimes fall by the wayside. Today I had my magic shoes on and I was really doing great until I stepped in the dog's water bowl and lost all my momentum. Maybe tomorrow my shoes will be dry . . .
(And yes, the dog bowl was in the same place it ALWAYS lives, I'm just clumsy!)

Well see I've heard a little about FlyLady, but I just can't wear shoes. Omg I hate shoes. I am a very barefoot mama.
So is it possible to do FlyLady and not be a SAHM?

 I've got you beat...I think I've tried (and dropped out) 4 times. I'm a very organized person, but flylady is just TOO organized for me! It's a great idea, though...

How about Motivated Moms? It's easy. You just print the chore list and check everything off as you do it. I have had to adapt it to fit my house or certain rooms would never get clean but it's easy and it works.
Also, if you take some time to make a list of monthly, weekly, daily chores and sit down and make a few checklists that works too. Flylady is a little intimidating to me right now so I think I'll do that instead.

I tried MM moms, too, I just suck I think.

Me too Christi. I have to keep reminding myself that printing the list doesn't make my house clean. I actually have to do the work, lol!

I guess I don't really need anything like this right now...thankfully we have a pretty small house (all we need with the three of us), and it's pretty easy to keep everything clean. I'm sure I will need to get more organized when I have another kid and a bigger house :)
I tried the Flylady but all the emails overwhelmed me. I did Motivated Moms for a year and a half and out of that slowly developed my own system. I am not a neat freak (I am a not-so-closet 'stacker' and have baskets of stacked stuff secreted throught the house) but I can't handle chaos and dirt and MM was really helpful when the kids were little and I was struggling with how to get it all done.

You don't have to be a SAHM to do flylady (you just have to be a little more creative) and yes you do have to wear shoes, really just try it. Your feet will thank you. Just remember that you are worth a decent pair of shoes. They don't have to be expensive, just comfy and supportive. You will probably find that if you wear your shoes your legs will not ache, your back will not hurt and you will feel like you are ready for anything. I was like you I hated shoes too, but now I wear them every day, all day. I feel so good about myself now and know that if my friends or relatives stop by I can be proud of not only how my house looks, but me too.
Oh yeah, I started flying about 4 years ago, but I fell of the wagon after Katy was born(extra mega stress and NO time to do anything but feed her, literally spent 10 hours per day feeding her). But I am back on the wagon again, just jump in where you are!
dropout--- i get stressed and feel like a failure when I can't stay on top of things. I may try again when Simon is a little older-- i think if I didn't have a kid who nursed allll day then it might work a little better for me :)

MM you have to pay? Well that's out.
I may look at FL, but I've seen her site before and where do you start?

MM is an e-book that you download, that's why you have to pay. There are well over 60 pages that include the weekly list for every week of the year plus some other things.
Here's another simple approach that some people I know have used. You assign a room to each day of the week. If you have more than 7 rooms or want to do it in five days only, then you double up. For instance Monday is Master Bedroom and powder room day. Those two rooms get a thorough cleaning- all laundry in those rooms gets washed, dried and put away, everything gets dusted, wiped, organized, swept, mopped or whatever else you need to do. Of course then you still have the basic daily chores like dishes, cooking, wiping counters, etc. With this system you put a hamper or laundry basket in each kids' room so that on their day, you do only their laundry.

I tried to download the sample.. didn't work. :bawl: I am going to really need something when we get our new house. it has 5 bathrooms, if I don't get a system down I will NEVER keep that place clean!!
I must do something, I'll admit I am a flylady dropout.. I just remember getting so many emails and getting overwhelmed.. I'm tempted to try MM.

How did it not work?
You could also do your own MM type schedule. Make three or four lists- daily chores, weekly chores, monthly, etc. Then sit down with a notebook and a calendar and choose what days each chore will be tackled. It takes some time but it well worth it and you know you will have all of your rooms covered unlike with MM. We have five bathrooms too. It takes me a long time to clean them all on bathroom day. Then we have the big family room/play room in the basement and a play room on the first floor in addition to the living room. So, on the MM list, when she says to vacuum the living room, I have three rooms to do. It would be much easier to do my own list that evenly distributes the chores over the course of a week.

No, but your email gets flooded with reminders and it's kind of annoying. To me FL is much more complicated.

I just read my flylady subject lines of the emails and delete them (that's actually what she says to do) If you see a testimonial that interests you, read it, if not, delete it. Most days I just delete them all. Once you get your routines in place you don't really need the emails. Sometimes it helps though when I am wasting time on the computer and I get an email saying "where is your laundry" It reminds me to get off my butt and put it in the dryer or fold it or whatever. She lists beginner baby steps to help you to not be overwhelmed. Also, she suggests that you not jump into full routines and try to change your habits all at once because it won't stick. I've never heard of MM until this thread, but it sounds like the checklists are similar to what you create for yourself in the control journal - maybe I'm wrong?

I LOVE my control journal. It has saved my butt on numerous occasions. I just made up my own control journal using her guidance through her web site. I do read the e-mails, but don't do everything she says yet. I am not "there" yet and only do what I have already established in my routines. I don't do missions yet, but I read the e-mails so I have an idea what I will be up against so I will know when I am ready to start doing them. The testimonials encourage me and let me know that I am not alone. It took her 9 months to establish this system in her own life, so I am not behind.

I love the concept, but I can just never get the ball to keep rolling. I work out of my home, and so I call most of my mess creative clutter.

She has a control journal for those who work out of their home called the office control journal. Maybe it would help you keep the creative clutter under control and make you feel great about your day each day. It really does make me smile to see my house neat. I used to do avon, but I quit because I just couldn't keep it all together and keep my house, but it was more about my attitude about all this stuff than it was about my avon stuff. I will probably go back to it when I know I am ready to do it. I know I can do this this time! You can too! You are soooo worth having a neat house and a great home business! :hatjump:
