View Full Version : What are you reading?
It's been a little while since the last thread, so I thought I'd see what's changed.
I'm listening to Flyte (http://www.amazon.com/Septimus-Heap-Book-Two-Flyte/dp/0060577363/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-7108775-6728035?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1173300127&sr=1-1) in the car. It's the second Septimus Heap book and the kids are obsessed.
I have a half dozen cookbooks I am going over.
And I just got
Miserly Moms (http://www.amazon.com/Miserly-Moms-Living-Two-Income-Economy/dp/0764226126/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-7108775-6728035?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1173299870&sr=8-1)
The Starving Artist's Way (http://www.amazon.com/Starving-Artists-Way-Projects-Low-Budget/dp/1400051916/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-7108775-6728035?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1173299920&sr=1-1)

and

I think I am on a Spring Cleaning, organizing, and budgeting kick

Bubbles A Broad and The Joy Luck Club
Ry is obsessed with Cam Jansen and we're also reading Charlotte's Web.
What is Septimus Heap? What ages, what's it about?
I have a link up there- the first book is called Magyk. It's a fantasy series a little like Harry Potter. Not too scary. Amazon says it's for 4-6th graders but my 6 and 9 year olds are loving it.
The Joy Luck Club is a wonderful book. Amy Tan writes great stuff.

Amy,
we might need to borrow that! Or was it from the library.
Right now we are listening to Bridge to Terrabithia. I never read adult books anymore. Maybe flip through a homeopathic or herbal guide every once in awhile. My sister is reading "Men are from mars..." and says it's real interesting. Anyone read that?
i barely have time to read these message boards, haven't been on in weeks and I've missed so many post. But I do enjoy listening to the youth fiction with Arden:bounce: . Maybe one day I'll read adult books again :muahaha:

I just started a new J.D. Robb book today. I'll be done by tomorrow :bawl:
Amy,

We got it from the library- Maggie has Magyk (the first Septimus Heap book) up in her room right now and is listening to it again. It's not as good as Harry Potter, but we've been through the Potter series twice and need something else really good. They like fantasy so it works.
You might also try the Secrets of Droon. Another big hit here.

I haven't had the time/energy to do much reading the last couple weeks - sick kids, crazy schedules, etc - but I love a good book :-)
Right now I am reading "The Prince and the Pauper" for myself, just because I never have. I'm kind of wanting to read all the classics that have been sitting on my shelves since highschool but I've just never got around to reading!
I'm also reading "The Big Book of Home Learning: Volume 2" by Mary Pride. It seems like a great resource so far, although it's been overwhelming to realize how many choices I have to make about our homeschooling!
I just recently finished reading Charlotte's Web to the kids, and they loved it. We've started "Little House in the Big Wood", but for some reason Makaylah's having a harder time with it. She's interrupting every two words, and that makes me frustrated really fast, so I haven't tried it in a little while.
I'm also working on a plan to read the Bible through in 90 days, but I've done really bad and haven't done anything this week. It's pretty intense, but it's been neat since I've never read it all the way through and didn't grow up going to Sunday School and hearing all the O.T. stories.

I have a ton of books I WANT to be reading, but I never seem to get to them. I love the Sue Grafton books, but have not got far into the series.

I just finished a book called The Dreaming I believe that the author's name is Barbara Wood. I found it in the free bin outside of a used bookstore, and wasn't expecting much, but it was awesome!

I had been reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. But, then Beth's troubles in school started and I have been reading everything I can put my hands on about dyslexia.
